How the estimate works, and what happens to what you tell us.

Accuracy

How accurate is my estimate?

It’s only as accurate as the answers you give. We combine your figures with a set of general assumptions to produce an estimate, not a valuation. Use it as a clear starting point, and check anything important with a licensed professional.

How do you value the years of earning still ahead of me?

We project your current income across your remaining working years to age 67, applying wage growth and promotion steps that vary by industry and employer type, then discount the result back to today’s money at 8% a year. It is an estimate of earning potential, not a guarantee of future income.

Is Heirloom financial advice?

No. Heirloom doesn’t recommend financial products, doesn’t prepare legally valid wills, and isn’t a licensed financial adviser or legal practitioner. Speak to a licensed professional before making any financial or legal decision.

Privacy and data

Do I need to connect my bank or upload documents?

No. There are no bank logins and no documents needed. You answer a few plain questions about what you own, what you owe and what you earn.

What happens to the information I enter?

Your answers are stored against your account so you can come back to them, and are used to produce your estimate and the monthly summary if you want one. We don’t sell your information and we don’t use it for advertising. While Heirloom is a prototype, please don’t enter genuine financial, legal or health details. See the privacy policy for the full detail.

Can I delete my information?

Yes, at any time. Deleting your account from the My details page removes everything held about you, including your answers, your saved figures and any feedback you sent. It cannot be undone and we cannot recover it afterwards. You can also email myheirloom.au@gmail.com.

Security

How is my information kept secure?

The site is served over HTTPS and passwords are stored only as salted hashes, never in readable form. Heirloom is a prototype and its privacy, security and access procedures are still being established, so we make no claim to independently audited security at this stage. That is why we ask you not to enter real financial, legal or health details yet.

Who else can see what I add?

By default, only you. Nothing is shared with anyone else unless you choose to share it. The features for giving nominated people access are still in development and are switched off.
